Homa Sarshar is an Iranian-American writer, journalist and activist who is well known for her work in promoting Iranian culture and women's issues. She was born in Tehran, Iran in 1947 and later moved to the United States where she studied sociology and received a degree from California State University.
Early in her career, Sarshar worked as a journalist for various Iranian newspapers before moving to California in the late 1970s. She continued her work as a journalist and became the editor-in-chief of the Iranian-American community newspaper, Payam-e-Avvaz, which was published in both Farsi and English.
Sarshar has written numerous books on Iranian culture and history, including biographies of prominent Iranian women. She is also a strong advocate for women's rights and has been involved in various organizations that work to improve the status of women in Iran.
In recognition of her contributions to Iranian culture and women's issues, Sarshar has received numerous awards, including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the Women of Achievement Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners. She continues to be a prominent voice in the Iranian-American community and an advocate for social justice and equality.
